Belladonna, a young woman born into a religious community, had always felt like an outsider. Her parents and even her beloved sister believed she was "born wrong." Walking away from the church didn't help her come to terms with her purpose in life, and when her sister was diagnosed with cancer, Belladonna found herself with nowhere to turn. That is, until a demon offered her a deal.

After agreeing to the deal, Belladonna's expectations were shattered. There was no fiery hell, and her soul seemed to remain her own. All she was required to do was serve, and when she was auctioned off to Rusalka, a powerful and ruthless succubus, her confusion only grew. Rusalka, deeply committed to their role as the leader of their people, had made countless sacrifices to ensure their well-being. They were willing to go to great lengths to achieve their goals, but something about Belladonna intrigued them. But Belladonna's own struggles with her sense of shame and her desire to live for herself instead of in service to others threatened to undermine the growing connection between them. If she couldn't find a way to release her past and embrace a future where she was in control of her own life, the potential between them might never be realized.
